Hi, I'm Mom, the Social Media Intern

The Rise of a Social Media Intern…MOM

Soooo, I have survived raising a son (so far…) who is an adrenaline junkie. After years of endangering himself and scaring the heck out of me, he became an adultĀ  and started his own ecommerce web design business, appropriately named Adrenaline Commerce, LLC. Now I have the opportunity to work with him as Adrenaline Commerce’s Social Media Intern, book keeper, and yes, his Mom.

As parents, my husband and I chose soccer and baseball as appropriate sports for him when he was little. We wanted to try and channel some of his overabundant energy into something SAFE and productive. This worked for awhile…until he discovered wheels. We put him on roller skates when he was in kindergarten and pretty soon he was blowing by everyone else on the rink, winning all the races held during open skate sessions, and spending a lot of time in the penalty box because he only knew one speed….FAST. We were approached by the speed skating coach about having him join the speed team. The next thing we knew we were getting up at 4:00 am to attend speed skating meets and holding our breath while he went screaming (I mean his WHEELS were screaming) around the other racers. He could defy gravity and jump over someone sprawled in front of him without going down himself. I spent those years (alternately) with my eyes closed and holding my breath OR jumping up and down with relief when he finished (and usually won) a race and was still in one piece…. It’s no wonder my hair turned gray at such a young age.

We spent the next few years traveling the country, cheering him on through speed skating meets, several nationals, lots of medals and wins and we realized that he had something more than just a “need for speed”. He had an incredible passion and drive to be the best. Do I sound like a proud mom?!

So now the tables are turned, I am working for him and he is teaching me social media. PAYBACKS…. although I don’t think I can scare him, but I bet I will drive him crazy enough with my learning curve to sprout a few gray hairs himself… ahhhh, this could be fun!
